March 16th 2022 saw 1 Sqns Dominick Seago beat Alex McAllister to secure victory in the first Esports Event ever hosted by The Lossie Phantoms Esports Team Committee. Dean Bowditch completed the podium coming home in 3rd place.

The committee wanted to deliver a competitive event for their first outing, and it delivered a spectacular rivalry for a win that Verstappen & Hamilton would be proud of. The event was a Time Trial where gamers were challenged to set the fastest lap possible in a McLaren F1 car around Monza on F1 2020 (On PlayStation 4).

Early in the event there was a rivalry between Sam Gillard and Dean Bowditch as they traded blows and drove the times from the 1m 25secs into the low 1:21's. Trading sectors and pushing each other to the point of running out of talent was exciting to watch as they jostled for P1.

However, as the day turned into night, the stage was set for two driving heavy weights to push the bar even higher. Dominick & Alex put their sweat bands on and extracted every thousandth of a second they could in a Prost v Senna rivalry where high risk for a big reward was the strategy and in the end they were separated by 0.058 of a second with victory going to Dominick in a 1:20.935.

The event was hosted in the Station Cinema Room at the Barrel & Bean. A special thanks is extended to them for kindly allowing The Phantoms to stage their inaugural event there. Thanks to the size of the room, they club were able to set up a Virtual Reality Rig and have a great social on the side. Whilst the club is serious about providing challenges and teams for the sharp end of Service esports, it is also passionate about delivering a club that also provides an environment to let off steam, have a chat and enjoy time away from the working environment.

As it stands, events like this will be provided every month with a view to adding interested people and players to their discord server where players can meet up online and deal with some 'digital business' together either as a fireteam, football team or… whatever team they want to be.
