18 MAY 2022: FIFA 15 (RETRO)
COME BACK: LIVERPOOL V AC MILAN
The month of May is associated with Star Wars, Maypole Dancing, May Day and of course the end of the football season. Wanting to deliver a single player event for the day and keeping the committee going, the choice of FIFA 15 was selected on PS4. Knowing that the game was quite old meant that it was still basic for new users who were not to sure about super trick moves in a bid to keep the playing field (pardon the pun) level.
In May 2005, Liverpool recovered from 3-0 down at half time to beat AC Millan on penalties. Knowing that the Champions League final was in May, it was decided that this was going to be a single player comeback challenge. Different difficulties would give a point multiplier and whoever completed the comeback, with the best points would be crowned the champion.
Tom Gregson stepped into the hot seat first. Scoring 3 own goals to put himself at the correct disadvantage, he went on to blast 6 goals past Millan thus winning 6v3 on a difficulty multiplier of 1. Dean Bowditch was up next and he chose the same multiplier. This time thought he destroyed AC Milan 9v3 and take the lead in the event.
Having witnessed greatness in action, Karl Dawson believed that not only was he going to beat AC Milan by many goals, he was going to do it on the maximum difficulty. He set himself up with the 3 goal disadvantage and then began. Knowing that the maximum difficulty would yield 10 points per goal if he could complete the comeback and the win, he put himself under a bit of pressure. Backing himself throughout, he turned a 3-0 comeback into a 5-0 defeat. He was the only player in the evenings event to try the max difficulty. On the same multiplier as Dean & Tom, he managed a 6-3 win, tying for 3rd place.
Dean remained top of the scores throughout the event, right up until a new contender entered near the end of the night. Ashley Parker came straight from work in full rig, sat down, chose the same multiplier as everyone else and started the master class. One goal became 2, then 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and eventually 11.
Sending a cheeky 'sorry' on discord message to Dean, it was obvious from his beaming smile that he was anything but sorry as he took the goals and the glory in this event.
Once again, the club was treated to gaming talent at the highest level and friendly competition throughout that led to much fun and banter. A great end to the football season 2021/22 Lossie Phantoms style!
